Root Canal Treatment: What Is It?

Root canal treatment removes the nerve tissue and fills the space to keep the tooth functioning and preserve it. It is needed when decay has reached near the nerve, when a cracked tooth causes severe pain, when infection of the root canal causes inflammation at the root tip, or when tooth preparation comes very close to the nerve.

What to know about root canal treatment

In root canal treatment, “pain” is the main source of fear.

At Yonseirian Dental, we use topical anesthetic gel, an anesthetic mouth rinse and a computer-controlled anesthesia device

to help reduce discomfort during treatment.

In root canal treatment, it usually takes 3–5 visits rather than a single session.

Fees per visit are calculated at rates covered by Korean National Health Insurance (for eligible insured patients).

Teeth that have had root canal treatment become brittle over time, so they need protection.

So after root canal treatment is complete, a crown is placed.

After root canal treatment, some sensation or pain may remain.

Depending on the degree, we monitor how it progresses, and if symptoms are severe, extraction may be required.
